Due to the high chance of severe weather impacting our area tomorrow, Macon County Schools will be closed. All extra-curricular activities (trips, games, etc) are canceled as well. According to the latest weather forecast, there is an increased threat of high winds, large hail, and possible tornados from lunch tomorrow until later tomorrow night. Just to be safe, students should be with their families and not on buses or at school during this time. Although it is short notice, the safety of the students is our primary concern.

LES Phones are now working.

As most of you have heard, there will be an eclipse next Monday afternoon. It is going to be at its peak coverage (95%) after 2:00. I know that many of you would like to watch this as a family and I don't blame you. If you would like to pick up your child early from school with no attendance penalty, you are free to do so at 1:30. This will give you plenty of time to get to a place to watch it together. We are planning on having all students at school watch it and have purchased approved eclipse glasses for them to wear. If your child is picked up early, they will still get a pair of glasses to watch it with you, but we have no extras. If you do not want your child to be a part of the eclipse event at school, please call the school and let them know and we will keep your child inside during that time.

LES’s phone lines are not working at the moment. Parents can reach out to individual teachers until the issue is resolved.
