Thank you to everyone who has made food or monetary donations to our county's Backpack Program. We currently serve approximately 240 students with a bag of food every Friday. Our funding has been cut significantly this year, but thanks to your generosity, we are able to continue this service. We are blessed to live in a community with such caring individuals.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank those responsible for making the homecoming parades at Red Boiling Springs and Lafayette a success. Having a safe, successful parade is no easy undertaking and the Macon County School System would like to thank the Macon County Sheriff's Office, the Lafayette Police Department, the Red Boiling Springs Police Department, the employees of the City of Red Boiling Springs, and the employees of the City of Lafayette. In addition, thank you to the school system employees as well as all of those who lined the streets to watch. Pulling off a parade is very stressful and takes a great deal of work, but seeing the faces of the spectators, especially the young children, makes it a very enjoyable experience for all. -Shawn Carter, Director of Schools

****MCJHS Junior Beta Club Information**** The National Junior Beta Club is the largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization in America. For more than 80 years, it has prepared today's students to be tomorrow's leaders. The MCJHS Beta Club volunteers for many different events and projects. We volunteer in the CDC classroom, collect items for the MCJHS Hygiene Closet, assist/raise funds for Cason’s Cause, hold food drives, and participate in the Angel Tree event at Christmas. Students learn to care for others and experience the joy of helping through these projects. Students can enter the Junior Beta Club in their 6th, 7th, or 8th grade years providing they have an average of 90 (due to the change in the grading scale) or above from the previous year. Members must maintain an 80 (B or above) average and must maintain a good record of behavior and values. Students wishing to apply should fill out the Google form in their respective Tiger Den Google Classroom. These applications are due no later than September 26, 2023 to be considered for entry into the club. Current Beta sponsors are Mrs. Tara Haehl, Mrs. Sara Beth Young, Mrs. Jennifer Brawner, and Mrs. Kayla Wix. Please reach out with any questions or concerns.

The Macon County School System is asking that stakeholders please fill out this very short survey concerning the expenditure of our remaining ESSER 3.0 funds. ESSER funds were supplied to school districts to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath in the areas of learning loss and student/staff safety. Please only fill out the survey one time and the MCSS thanks you for your time. https://forms.gle/xcQmQDPjMLwXRhRa7
