The all clear has been given. After investigation, it has been determined that a high voltage transformer blew causing what sounded like gunfire. We are resuming our daily schedule. We understand that this has been very stressful but we have to respond to every possible threat immediately. The safety of your children and our staff is the most important thing to us

Due to suspected gunfire in close proximity to one of Macon County Schools, all schools are on current lockdown. We cannot release any more information at this time. All students are currently safe and schools will be on lockdown until further notice.

***BUS ROUTE UPDATES*** The Morning of September 13 the following Bus Routes:

After speaking with the Macon County Sheriff's Office, the "soft lockdown" has been lifted. We apologize for any stress or hardships this may have caused, but the safety of our school community remains our main priority.

The Macon County School System was made aware of a Facebook post consisting of a threat against one, or more, of our schools. For that reason, all schools will be on a "soft lockdown" today while the authorities complete their investigation. This means that outside visitors are prohibited, PE and recess will be indoors, and your child might notice extra patrols by law enforcement. The safety of our students and staff remain our top priority. We apologize for any inconvenience or stress this may cause you or your child.

This morning, Bus 6 was struck by a car using the incorrect lane in Fairlane Elementary's parking lot. The incident was very minor and all students were checked to ensure they were unhurt and will be monitored during the day. The students were then transported to their appropriate destination, Lafayette Elementary School and Central Elementary School. If your child was on the bus this morning and attends Lafayette Elementary School or Central Elementary School, feel free to call the school to check on your child.
