Each school system in Tennessee has the responsibility of providing a free and appropriate public education for all certified disabled children between the ages of 3 through 21 years. Early detection and treatment of persons with disabilities is very important. If you know of any individual who may have a disability who is not presently receiving an appropriate educational program or other needed services, please call 666-2125. The superintendent, the supervisor of Special Education, or the school psychologist will be glad to talk with you. If you think your child may have a disability and your child is between birth and thirty-six months, please call Tennessee's Early Intervention System, toll free at 1-800-852-7157. This system will help families locate services for infants and toddlers with disabilities before the child reaches school age.
